Elementary Teacher Tips

Spring 2010

  1. Bring a brick to class and have each student sign their name on it with a permanent marker as a reminder of God’s wall of protection. Keep it in a place where it is visible to the students.
  2. Take a close look at your inventory at the beginning of the quarter. Do you need pencils, markers, erasers, and other items that are often used in the classroom? If so, let the person who does the purchasing of these items know.
  3. Check out after Easter sales for small candies (Skittles, Sweet Tarts, M&Ms, etc.) that can be placed in a treasure chest. Also, yard sales are a great place to find clothing that can be used for dramas and costumes for monologues for your class.
  4. Look ahead to the lessons in the upcoming weeks. Make a list of any items for a CONNECT activity or craft that are needed. If you do not have an item, check with parents of the students in your class. Many will be happy to let you borrow an item or provide items for a lesson.
  5. Use the backside of the Family Links to send home a monthly letter to parents making them aware of any special activities that may be taking place in your classroom (Easter party, Mother’s Day celebration, etc.) or other important dates they may need to know about.
