- Go to the store after Easter to look for small candies or other items that can be used in a treasure chest in your classroom.
- Unit 1 suggests using stuffed lions in centers. If you do not have these, check with parents to see if they have some in their home (be sure to note who gave which stuffed animal). Another option is to look in local discount or dollar stores. Having them for the children to play with adds great visual interest.
- Take a close look at your inventory at the beginning of the quarter. Do you need construction paper, glue, new crayons, paper plates, and other items that are often used for crafts? If so, let the person who does the purchasing of these items know.
- Send home a monthly letter to parents making them aware of any special activities that may be taking place in your classroom (Easter party, Mother’s Day celebration, etc.) It’s also a great way to let them know of any items you may need that they can help provide (empty toilet paper and paper towel tubes, egg cartons, washed applesauce cups, etc.)
- NOTE: For the SUMMER quarter, plastic eggs will be used, so be sure to keep them in an easy-to-get-to place after Easter. Also, empty rectangular tissue boxes will be used in the second unit of the SUMMER quarter, so begin collecting them now.
